Open University “Sesvete” is cultural and educational institution founded in 1959. Since 1979 it also comprises the Junior Music School Zlatko Grgošević, as an organisational unit – Branch. The Music School is attended by 400 students in the following departments:
During the school year the Music School students perform regularly at concerts, recitals and artistic productions both at the Music School and at other venues. The organisation of The Fourth International Competition for Young Pianists “Zlatko Grgošević” been the results of very successful; First (in 2000), Second (in 2002), Third Competition (in 2004), Fourth Competition (in 2006), and Fifth Competition (in 2008).
The competition was held to mark the 100th anniversary of birth of Zlatko
Grgošević, a Croatian composer and music teacher, the 40th anniversary
of the Open University "Sesvete" and the 20th anniversary of
the Junior Music School Zlatko Grgošević. 2nd PIANO COMPETITION FOR YOUNG PIANISTS "ZLATKO GRGOŠEVIĆ" was held from 23 – 30 May 2002 194 competitors, between the age of 7-23, competed in seven categories (A - G), presenting a programme of their own choice, under the condition to perform also a piece by a Croatian composer. The Competition was held under the auspices of The Zagreb City Council. 3rd PIANO COMPETITION FOR YOUNG PIANISTS "ZLATKO GRGOŠEVIĆ" was held from 15 – 22 May 2004 154 candidates participated in the competition, from Croatia and abroad: Germany, Austria, Hungary, France, Russia, Japan, China, Slovenia, Serbia and Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, etc. Apart from 5 categories, the new one was introduced; “The Zagreb 2004” Award for Best Piano Performance, which took place in two stages with the maximum age limit of 33, with a pre-determined programme The Competition was held under the auspices of The Zagreb City Council.
117 candidates participated in the competition, from Croatia and abroad: Italy, Austria, Russia, Japan, Norway, Lithuania, Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia etc. „The Zagreb 2006“ Award for Best Piano Performance, participated 10 competitors. The Competition was held under the auspices of The Zagreb City Council.
125 candidates participated in the competition, from Croatia and abroad: Italy, Austria, Russia, Norway, Lithuania, Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Kosovo, China, Germany, Norway, etc. „The Zagreb 2008“ Award for Best Piano Performance, participated 20 competitors. The Competition was held under the auspices of The Zagreb City Council.
